Vintage Ephemera

Last weekend, we were in West Sussex and went to my favourite place to pick up vintage ephemera and the like. Also managed to pick up a really early wooden table-top trimmer (for 50p), to go with the new Adana 8x5 letterpress!

Restaurant Promotional Flyer

Having done all of the identity and marketing for Harman, including Menu, Wine List and Cocktail list, they wanted something as a mail-out that would stand out amongst the plethora of restaurant promotional items in London. I decided that pictures were not always necessary and that a typography piece, in the shape of a plate would engage the viewer - getting across the vital information, without formal lists or bullet points. The map on the back lists all of the bus routes and mimics the style of the front.

The Melodees Promo CD Insert

I've been working on a promo CD for a band called the Melodees. You may remember I posted a cover a while ago. This is the promo version. The covers are letterpressed onto recycled card sleeved and I am going to hand number them with an Automated Numbering Machine from the 50's - will post pics soon!

Charity Auction Flyer

This is a super-quick flyer I put together for a charity auction in Highgate, in the style of hatch show prints/ 19th Century auction adverts. The font is perfect for this style and not to overly woodcut in style. Opera Lyrics font, info and download: here

Flyer Design: Smash Up!

I had real fun making this. I drew a few simple shards in photoshop and made a brush which I used on separate layers with different shape dynamics, then loaded as a selection to shatter the vinyl!

Vintage VW Beetle cross section

I absolutely love old VWs, and I have had several from '62 - '74 beetles and campers. Now I live in London it is unpractical, but I still want another one!. This is a lovely cross section image I found in a charity shop in Highgate. I presume it is from a '65-'67 handbook (you can tell by the lights and larger front screen and back window!), but I haven't taken it out of the frame, love it!
