Beautiful Iron Typography Stoke Newington

I had to be quick to get this one as I pulled up by the traffic lights on my Vespa in Stoke Newington. This has been on my picture radar for a while so I was glad to finally capture it! Wonderful ironwork that still (thankfully) remains quite prevalent throughout parts of London.

Logo design process

This was a quick logo design from customer artwork. They already had a clear idea of what they wanted. The most important thing for me was to achieve a balance with the kerning each side of the central T. The .com helps with this but I decided to use the irregular Burbank which compliments the movement of the spokes and helps hold it all together nicely.

I wasn't keen on the requested use of black and much prefer the proposed use of the strong blue which emphasises the connection between movement and commuter travel giving a nod to the iconic tube device.

Whilst we are on quick logo design, here is another done this week. Sometimes you have to think quick and are not allowed time to develop owing to customer deadlines!, again much less that one hour from start to finish:

Trip to London Olympic Site

We rode over to the Olympic Site at Hackney Wick, where we used to live to see how everything was coming along. Glad to see the art studios are still thriving, but the area has changed so much. Took this picture by the canal I used to walk along, right by where it has all been boarded up for the Olympic site.

Headland Hotel Old Type

I took this a while back. It is the Headland Hotel in Newquay, where Roald Dahl's The Witches was filmed!

Winchester Iron Typography

My Vespa is in for an MOT, so I walked to work this morning. It gave me the chance to finally take a picture of the beautiful iron work outside The Winchester on Archway Road, which is something I have been meaning to do for ages... and was part inspiration for The Highgate Youth Theatre logo I designed a while back.

Caravan...

Well we did get to stay in a caravan the weekend before last.
We went to Plumpton near Brighton and stayed at the amazing 'Blackberry Woods' Go if you can!, We stayed in the retro caravan for two nights and had a great time.
Weather and South downs were beautiful.
