Managed to scoot down on Sunday. It was a lovely morning and perfect day to make the short trip on my Vespa. Was very inspiring and great to see some of the work in 'the flesh' by the likes of Jessica Hische and Paul Blow & MVM. Unfortunately my camera broke so I am left with these rather lacklustre iphone shots!

The Melodees logo design and album cover
This is a design for a new band called The Melodees. I was asked to do both the logo and the cover design. The image is of a 1951 Lambretta!. I used a halftone line method of 45 and 135 degrees which is most noticeable on the rear wheel.
I had to dig through one of my 45rpm boxes to find a blank white cover to scan, to provide the basis for the lovely background.
This, the first design has been approved and I will post the rest of the design once they finish recording and I have the track-listing.

Old Pub Sign
This is from the outside of an old pub just up the road. There are so many wonderful examples of old typography and design from times gone by, around London. I have taken some pictures and will put them up here when I get the chance.

Highgate Youth Theatre
This is a Spring/ Summer version of the logo I have recently been working on, to eventually create a logo for a every season. I have added flowers, bird song and butterflies. This in particular is a design for a course recruitment drive. The client did initially ask for a less flamboyant style on the logo - but came back after sleeping on it - and went with this version.
The letter 'B'
This is a typography test for a new piece of work using the letter 'B' which I sketched out earlier in the week.

There's nothing like a Royal Wedding to inspire a client...
I personally preferred the Sick Bag by Lydia: http://www.lydialeith.com/
- but a client request for something relating to the Royal Wedding, when the business is far removed from such, provided the brief. No, that literally was the brief... plus couple of other quick ones...

HIghgate Youth Theatre
A while back I posted the font I designed for Highgate Youth Theatre identity, along with the ongoing logo design. The second version was chosen and they were very happy with it. I did integrate some wildlife into the design (snail and bat), which aren't so easy to spot on the gold embossed book design.
I am intending on using the theme of seasons to adapt the logo as the year progesses - and end up with slightly different version for each.
Photoshop Disaster
I recently submitted a photoshop disaster and was pleased to see it featured.
Having read the comments it seems that this may be intentional. That is a worry, it should have been actually done with scissors and paper and scanned should that be the case. I stand by my comment 'disaster'!

Typographical Scrabble By Andrew Capener
This is a beautiful minimalistic designer's dream take on a classic game.
There is an email submission form on Andrew's website should it make it into production.
I would certainly be adding this to my wishlist!
